BORDER CONSTELLATIONS

2013

Border Constellations are imagined star formations that take the shape of geographic boundaries of political entities. The star systems are outlined by strings of decorative lights, streamers, balloons, fireworks, sparklers and other celebratory devices to provide a minimal, yet ornamental sketch of the various countries. I imagine that small robotic machines hover in space holding the outlines, or setting off the fireworks at designated times to create the shapes around the stars.

The panels are each 61 cm square.
